After many years of building and leading a business, and later advising boards and founders, I recognised that the greatest value I now bring is through board-level contribution across multiple organisations. I am motivated by helping ambitious businesses make better decisions as they grow in complexity, and by applying experience gained over decades to support others at critical moments in their journey.

My portfolio career developed organically. Moving on from the business I founded and led for many years, I began supporting founders and boards in an advisory capacity. Over time, these roles became more formal, evolving into non-executive and board advisory positions across a range of sectors, alongside strategic consultancy and growth support.

One of my early successes was supporting growing businesses to strengthen governance and decision-making at board level, without losing their entrepreneurial drive. Drawing on my own experience of scaling a company through periods of growth and economic challenge, I was able to help leaders introduce structure, clarity, and resilience at a critical stage.

I have learned that good governance is not about process for its own sake, but about enabling better conversations and decisions. The fundamentals of leadership, culture, and financial discipline are consistent across sectors, but context matters. Above all, constructive challenge – delivered with respect and experience – is one of the most valuable contributions a board adviser can make.

At this stage of my career, portfolio work allows me to focus on the areas where I am most effective: judgement, challenge, and strategic oversight. I am able to draw on deep, practical experience while remaining engaged with innovative, fast-moving organisations. The variety keeps the work intellectually stimulating and relevant, while allowing me to contribute meaningfully to each role.

I hope to continue working with thoughtful, ambitious leaders who value strong governance and long-term thinking. I am particularly interested in supporting organisations that want to grow responsibly, embed sustainability and resilience, and build businesses that are well-governed, adaptable, and fit for the future.
