After leading marketing teams and driving global product launches across high-tech, science, and software industries, I founded Bespoke Marketing to offer strategic, flexible marketing leadership as a fractional CMO. My passion is translating complex technology into compelling, market-ready stories that win customers and investment. One key learning has been that marketing is most effective when it is embedded at the heart of a business – aligning sales, product, technology, and leadership around a clear brand vision. Communication, trust, and delivery against commitments are vital in building long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders. I now manage a portfolio of clients, from AI platforms to scale-ups pivoting into new markets, giving me both variety and security. This approach also allows me to combine impactful client delivery with continuous professional growth. Looking ahead, I aim to deepen long-term engagements with my clients, working as a trusted partner to scale their businesses, launch new products, and expand into global markets.
I got started by founding Bespoke Marketing after being made redundant from my previous role.
One of my first successes was pivoting a software consultancy into a software product company, creating and launching the new identity. This led to a stable income in one sector and ultimately to an acquisition. At Sentec, a technology consultancy, I launched two joint ventures in the smart grid/metering space. The company won two Queen’s Awards for Innovation, which included a memorable visit to Buckingham Palace! Sentec was ultimately acquired and became part of a larger organisation.
Along the way, I’ve learned how powerful marketing is in driving visibility, credibility, and ultimately business value. I’ve also gained experience working in larger organisations, including Arm, a highly matrixed company of 7,000 people, where I learned many new skills and led cross-functional teams for new product launches and ongoing campaigns.
Being a Portfolio Executive is working for me now because, in addition to my marketing skills and experience, I started out in physics, researching at postdoctoral level both in the UK and at the prestigious CSIRO in Australia. I then transitioned into industry as a technology project manager, working in production and new product development. I utilise this full T-shaped set of skills to bring success to start-ups and scale-ups.
Looking forward, I’d like to expand my CMO portfolio and bring my skills to help a new set of companies, founders, and leaders, supporting them to make a success of their new ideas and technologies, whether start-ups, scale-ups, or larger organisations.
