After 15+ years across JPMorgan, Citi, Grail Research, and GEP, I realised my strongest value was not within one function, but in solving interconnected business problems across strategy, GTM, operations, governance, and transformation.

I was repeatedly pulled into high-ambiguity situations where businesses needed structure, alignment, and execution discipline. Over time, I saw that many founder-led and growth-stage companies faced similar scaling challenges but were not ready for full-time senior leadership hires. Portfolio work felt like a natural extension of how I already operated, solving cross-functional business problems, bringing systems thinking into chaotic environments, and helping leadership teams translate strategy into execution.

I got started quite organically through a couple of founder friends who reached out for help with scaling, execution challenges, GTM structuring, and operating discipline. What began as informal problem-solving conversations evolved into more structured advisory support. Very quickly, I noticed the same patterns repeating across businesses: fragmented execution, unclear ownership, weak operating rhythm, and founder bandwidth constraints. The work grew through trust, outcomes, and referrals rather than active business development. I’m still early in the journey and intentionally building it gradually while refining where I create the highest leverage and impact.

My earliest success started at JPMorgan Chase in 2012, where a new role was created for me within the middle office to directly solve client and operational challenges. The role evolved from issue resolution into process transformation across the department. I worked closely with business and technology teams to identify structural inefficiencies, redesign workflows, and drive automation initiatives that improved execution reliability, controls, turnaround time, and customer experience.

This continued later at GEP Worldwide on a much larger scale. Whenever there was a critical cross-functional initiative, enterprise-wide transformation, CRM implementation, post-acquisition integration, or operational fire, leadership often brought me in to stabilise execution and drive outcomes.

Along the way, I’ve learned that most business problems are rarely isolated problems. What appears to be an execution issue is often a clarity, governance, ownership, or operating rhythm issue underneath. I’ve also learned that scalable organisations are built less on heroic individuals and more on strong systems, aligned incentives, clear communication, and disciplined execution.

Working across industries and leadership teams taught me the value of systems thinking and pattern recognition. Many solutions emerge by connecting dots across business, technology, psychology, incentives, and organisational behaviour. Most importantly, I’ve learned that trust and credibility matter more than titles. Leadership teams value people who can simplify complexity, stay calm in ambiguity, and quietly move things forward.

It’s working for me now because businesses today operate in far greater complexity and change than before. Founders and leadership teams often need strategic bandwidth, execution maturity, governance, and cross-functional alignment without necessarily hiring a full-time executive immediately. My experience has largely been built in high-growth, high-ambiguity environments where I was responsible for bringing structure, visibility, and execution discipline across fragmented systems and teams.

It also helps that my background is unusually cross-functional across GTM, operations, governance, PMO, customer lifecycle, workforce strategy, and transformation. That allows me to look at business problems systemically rather than functionally. Most importantly, the work is relationship-driven. Trust, credibility, and outcomes compound over time.

Looking ahead, I want to continue building a portfolio of meaningful work focused on strategy, GTM, governance, transformation, and AI-enabled operating models while working with thoughtful founders and leadership teams. I also hope India becomes far more accepting of fractional and portfolio leadership models. Many growing businesses need senior execution and strategic capability but may not require a full-time CXO immediately, and I believe this model will become increasingly relevant as organisations become more dynamic and outcome-focused.

Alongside client work, I want to contribute more through mentoring, writing, speaking, and helping shape conversations around systems thinking, leadership, execution, and the future of work. Most importantly, I want to continue learning, evolving, and solving increasingly meaningful business problems.
