I was motivated to become a Portfolio Executive because I’ve always been drawn to the bigger picture, understanding how individual projects, investments, or initiatives connect to drive overall performance and long-term value.
Early in my career, I found myself naturally looking beyond day-to-day tasks and asking questions about strategy, risk, and how decisions in one area impacted outcomes elsewhere.
My first real success in business terms came from securing a new client in a way that went beyond simply delivering individual projects. Instead of taking a transactional approach, I focused on building a strategic partnership, working closely with the client to define their target audiences and refine their focus on high-value segments that would deliver measurable ROI.
This approach not only ensured that results were clearly tracked and achieved, but also demonstrated the value of a more consultative, insight-driven way of working. Importantly, this win reflected a broader shift within the organisation, moving away from one-off, high-volume sales toward a more strategic growth model built on long-term partnerships and sustainable value.
Along the way, I’ve learned to shift from a delivery mindset to a more strategic one, focusing on long-term value, measurable outcomes, and strong client partnerships. I’ve also developed the ability to influence stakeholders and challenge existing approaches to drive better results.
It’s working for me now because I focus on outcomes rather than outputs. By being more strategic, defining clear audiences, aligning on measurable goals, and building long-term partnerships, I’m able to deliver consistent, high-value results instead of one-off wins.
Looking ahead, I want to scale my impact, moving from individual client success to shaping broader portfolio strategy and long-term growth. I also want to continue developing as a leader and help embed a more strategic, outcome-focused approach across organisations.
